Roger Waters and Mona Miari Reimagine Pink Floyd's 'Comfortably Numb' as a Palestinian Anthem

Roger Waters, co-founder of Pink Floyd, has released a reimagined version of the band's classic song 'Comfortably Numb', now transformed into a solidarity anthem for the Palestinian people. The new version, titled 'Comfortably Numb Re-Imagined', features Palestinian singer-songwriter Mona Miari and includes new lyrics in both English and Arabic. The song's iconic chorus has been altered from 'I have become comfortably numb' to 'I will never become comfortably numb', emphasizing a refusal to remain indifferent to suffering. The accompanying music video, approximately nine minutes long, alternates performances by Waters and Miari with footage shot in the Gaza Strip. Miari also performs a lullaby dedicated to Hind Rajab, a six-year-old Palestinian girl killed along with her family in Gaza in January 2024. Proceeds from the single will be donated to the Palestine Children's Relief Fund. Waters described the song as being 'on the right side of history', while Miari expressed hope that in ten years, listeners will experience a free Palestine and look back at the song as a testimony to the truth and a reminder of resistance and urgency for freedom. The original 'Comfortably Numb' was released in 1979 on Pink Floyd's album 'The Wall'. The reimagined version was released in August 2026, as reported by Artribune.
