Rodrigo Hernández enlists Latvian children to create collaborative exhibition at Kim? Contemporary Art Centre
From 24 March to 7 May 2017, the Kim? Contemporary Art Centre in Riga hosted 'The Shakiest of Things,' an exhibition by Mexican artist Rodrigo Hernández. The project involved collaboration with local primary school children aged seven to nine, resulting in wall drawings showcased in the first room and papier-mâché sculptures in the second. The vibrant drawings depicted families and whimsical creatures, while the sculptures, adorned with playful strokes, leaned towards abstraction. A prominent sculpture in the center resembled a cracked landmass. Hernández enjoyed unrestricted creative expression, tapping into artistic traditions that celebrate the imagination of children. This exhibition was reviewed in the Summer 2017 edition of ArtReview.
