Rocky Statue Examined in Philadelphia Museum of Art Exhibition
The Philadelphia Museum of Art is currently hosting an exhibition called "Rising Up: Rocky and the Making of Monuments," which is curated by Paul Farber, who heads Monument Lab. This intriguing display explores more than 2,000 years of how boxing and celebrity have been depicted through art, featuring over 150 works from more than 50 creators, including renowned names like Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat. It looks at how the image of fighters has evolved over time, showcasing the Rocky statue's transformation from a film prop to a celebrated landmark. Additionally, Farber edited a book that features contributions from artist Alex Da Corte and others. On Fridays after 5 pm, the museum offers Pay What You Wish admission.
