institutional · 2026-05-04

The Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center, located in Bellagio, Italy, has partnered with the Mexican Fundación Jumex Arte Contemporáneo to host the Arts & Literary Arts Residency in 2020. Six Latin American artists were selected by an international jury chosen by Jumex: Pedro Ignacio Alonso (Chile, 1975), Marcelo Gomes (Brazil, 1962), Andrés Mignucci (Puerto Rico, 1957), Diego Osorno (Mexico, 1980), Jorge Pérez Jaramillo (Colombia, 1964), and Laura Anderson Barbata (Mexico, 1958). They will spend four weeks at Villa Serbelloni in Como, preceded by a week of conferences. This is the third collaboration between the two foundations, aiming to support mid-career Latin American artists and foster intercultural exchange. The Bellagio Center, established in 1959 with a donation from Ella Holbrook Walker, has hosted notable figures including Mary Robinson, Maya Angelou, and Nobel laureates Joseph Stiglitz and Muhammad Yunus. It has also been the site of key global meetings on HIV and vaccine access. Recently, the center has formed partnerships with Khoj International Artists' Association (Delhi), Fundacion Jumex (Mexico City), Africa Center (Cape Town), and United States Artists (Chicago) to connect with Asia, Latin America, Africa, and the US respectively.
