Robin Peckham to Lead JD Museum in Shenzhen, Opening 2027
Robin Peckham, an American-born curator and editor, has been named executive director of the JD Museum in Shenzhen, set to open in late 2027. The museum, spanning over 10,000 square meters, will feature exhibitions, immersive installations, live performances, workshops, and retail spaces. It is part of JD.com's mission to connect people through art and technology, focusing on contemporary visual, cultural, and performing arts. Peckham previously served as co-director of Taipei Dangdai Art & Ideas from 2019 to 2025 and was editor-in-chief of LEAP magazine from 2014 to 2018. He expressed excitement about launching a cultural chapter for JD.com, noting Shenzhen's role as a hub for art and technology. The museum will anchor the "Scenic City" cultural complex in the Shenzhen Bay Super Headquarters Base, designed by Büro Ole Scheeren with interiors by Neri&Hu Design and Research Office. JD.com, founded in 1998, aims to make lives better through technology with this initiative.
