Roberto Aponte's 'MAGMA' at BABS Art Gallery: Jewelry and Ceramics Between Mediterranean Memory and Transforming Matter

exhibition · 2026-05-26

The 'MAGMA' solo exhibition by Roberto Aponte (born 1988) will be hosted at BABS Art Gallery in Milan from May 19 to September 18, 2026, with an inaugural event on June 9 at 6:30 PM, curated by Alida Priori. This project examines the Mediterranean as a cultural foundation, utilizing Sicily as a thematic element. Aponte, who is both a designer and ceramist, combines artistic exploration with craftsmanship, presenting jewelry and table art pieces crafted alongside goldsmith Matteo Bonafede, drawing inspiration from the mosaics of Villa Romana del Casale. The work features iconic motifs and a color scheme that echoes the island's landscape. Additionally, the exhibition will showcase a site-specific installation by Francesco Bustreo (born 1999), which includes embroidered organza panels.
