Robert Wilson's Video Portraits and Shaker Structure Transform Villa Panza
The exhibition titled 'Robert Wilson for Villa Panza. Tales' kicked off at Villa Panza in Varese and runs until October 15, 2017. Curated by Noah Khoshbin and Anna Bernardini, it features Wilson's VOOM Portraits, which are high-definition video portrayals of various celebrities including Brad Pitt, Winona Ryder, Johnny Depp, and more, set to soundtracks by Lou Reed and Tom Waits. The installation plays with light and shadow to create a cinematic vibe across different areas. Wilson also built an American Shaker-style structure for the gardens, which will become part of the permanent collection. Inside, there's a tableau vivant inspired by Rainer Maria Rilke’s poetry. Additionally, Lady Gaga is depicted in an Ingres style, while Robert Downey Jr. appears in a Rembrandt-inspired scene. The exhibition includes Wilson's 2016 work, 'A House for Giuseppe Panza.'
