Robert Proch on Painting, Psychology, and His Wunderkammern Show
Ahead of his solo exhibition 'Crossing the Line' at Wunderkammern in Rome, which runs until June 11, 2016, Polish artist Robert Proch (b. 1986) reflects on his artistic evolution and present endeavors. A graduate of the High School of Fine Arts in Bydgoszcz (2005) and the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań (2010) with a focus on animation, Proch now delves into the psychological dimensions of societal change, aging, and personal growth. His artistic roots trace back to graffiti (since 1999) and hip-hop culture, alongside animation (2004–2011). In his current work, he employs classical studio painting to investigate movement and abstract settings. Curated by Giuseppe Ottavianelli, Proch’s exhibition addresses the conflict between societal norms and personal decisions. He draws inspiration from urban artists like Boris Tellegen and Blu and is planning mural projects and wood-based works for the summer.
