Robert Mnuchin's Former Gallery Townhouse Listed at $35 Million

market-auction · 2026-05-21

Listed at $35 million, the five-story townhouse on the Upper East Side, which was home to Robert Mnuchin's prestigious gallery for over 30 years, is now on the market. Mnuchin and his second wife, Adriana, acquired the 106-year-old building in 1983 for an undisclosed amount, after it had previously functioned as a mansion, dormitory, and psychiatrist's office. After an 18-month renovation, they moved in, but Adriana grew weary of living above the gallery after 12 years. Mnuchin, a former Goldman Sachs partner, established his gallery in 1992 with James Corcoran from L.A., showcasing significant works by artists like Willem de Kooning and Jeff Koons. Following Mnuchin's passing in late 2024, the gallery closed four months ago. The Modlin Group listing indicates the townhouse can be utilized as either a private residence or an art gallery. The property features seven levels, 18 rooms, nine bedrooms, four full bathrooms, a kitchenette, a guest suite, and a 1,335-square-foot rooftop terrace designed by Mnuchin with Japanese red maples and basil. A private elevator connects all floors. Mnuchin's daughter, Valerie, recalled that the house hosted family dinners and high school parties in the basement.
