Robert Leckie Appointed Director of Spike Island in Bristol

Robert Leckie has been appointed as the new director of Spike Island, a non-profit organization located in Bristol, after serving as curator and head of programmes at Gasworks in London. During his tenure at Gasworks, Leckie facilitated the UK debuts of artists such as Monira Al Qadiri, Candice Lin, Naufus Ramírez-Figueroa, and Kemang Wa Lehulere, and commissioned works from British artists like Zach Blas, Rachal Bradley, Evan Ifekoya, and Sidsel Meineche Hansen. He co-curated the exhibition A Kingdom of Hours with Miguel A. Lopez in 2016–17, showcased at Gasworks and TEOR/éTica in San José. Alessio Antoniolli, the director of Gasworks, expressed regret over Leckie's exit, praising his creative curatorial approach. Leckie also lectures at the Royal College of Art and takes over from Helen Legg, who is now the director of Tate Liverpool.
