Robert Capa's Non-War Photography Exhibition at Villa Bassi Rathgeb
The exhibition titled 'Robert Capa. Fotografie oltre la guerra' is currently hosted at Villa Bassi Rathgeb in Abano Terme, Italy, and will run until June 5, 2022. It showcases more than 100 of Capa's photographs that extend beyond the battlefield, featuring notable figures such as Picasso, Hemingway, and Matisse. A dedicated section explores his connections to cinema, including a romantic involvement with Ingrid Bergman, which began in Paris in 1945. Capa also made a cameo in the film 'Temptation' (1946) and captured images on film sets for publications, like 'Bitter Rice' (1949) and 'Moulin Rouge' (1952). His only credited work in film is the documentary 'The Journey' (1951). Capa, who passed away at the age of 40 due to a landmine, is celebrated for his impactful style and famously stated, 'If your pictures aren't good enough, you're not close enough.'
