Ro.Me Museum Exhibition 2020 goes fully digital for its third edition
Ro.Me Museum Exhibition 2020, originally planned as a hybrid event, will now be entirely online due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The third edition runs from November 25 to 27, 2020, featuring a rich digital program. Coordinator Andrea Billi stated that the shift to digital had been anticipated, but the pandemic accelerated the transition. The event aims to keep Italy at the center of global dialogue on museum policies, expertise, and innovation. Opening ceremonies will include Italian Minister of Culture Dario Franceschini and the new Director General of Museums Massimo Osanna, symbolizing the collaboration between cultural heritage management and service industries. Undersecretary of MiBACT Lorenza Bonaccorsi highlighted that in 2019, tourism contributed 13% of Italy's GDP, with state museums alone accounting for nearly 2% (27 billion euros, or 1.6% of GDP). The event will focus on digital transformation and sustainability, as museum visitor numbers are expected to decline post-pandemic. Billi emphasized the need for a change in perspective and investment in digital accessibility. The program includes international speakers, business matching activities, and projects for sector development.
