Rizzoli Electa: Italian publishing giant launches international brand

publication · 2026-05-05

In April 2016, Mondadori Electa acquired Rizzoli Libri, subsequently merging it to form Rizzoli Electa, which will concentrate on the US and emerging markets. This new entity integrates Electa's strengths in art with Rizzoli's specialization in illustrated books. Rizzoli International Publications, located in New York, releases approximately 150 titles each year, capturing 8% of the illustrated book market in the US. For 2018, Rizzoli Electa is set to publish over twenty titles, including 'Berthe Morisot, Woman Impressionist' and 'Harmony Korine.' The inaugural major exhibition will take place in Rome in December 2018, showcasing the Torlonia Collection. Electa, established in Florence in 1945, is also planning more than ten titles for emerging markets, including a monograph on Li Huayi, with production overseen by Stefano Peccatori and Rizzoli International directed by Marco Ausenda.
