Rizomi Art Brut Relocates from Turin to Parma with New Gallery and Cultural Association

Rizomi Art Brut has moved from Turin to Parma, as explained by Nicola Mazzeo, who notes that the gallery's physical location matters little since most business occurs at major fairs. The gallery participates in key events like the Outsider Art Fair in New York and Paris (concurrent with FIAC), as well as Artissima (2015) in Turin and Arte Fiera (2016) in Bologna. The new Parma space is a small venue for exhibiting and trading in 'art of cultural impermeability,' a concept expanding Dubuffet's definition beyond artists with mental illnesses to those experiencing sociocultural segregation or creating without academic training. The gallery's catalog features international contemporary artists and three historical Italian outsider art figures: Carlo Zinelli, Pietro Ghizzardi, and Giovanni Battista Podestà. The inaugural exhibition, 'Corpi di parole. Parole del corpo,' includes works by Mehrdad Rashidi (Iran), Anne Marie Gbindoun (Benin), August Walla (Austria), and Carlo Zinelli, exploring the relationship between the human body and writing. Upstairs, the cultural association Artètipi has been established to explore canonical and undiscovered artistic territories, promote public engagement with art brut, and organize events such as the one in Casale Monferrato ('Outsider Art, Contemporaneo presente. Collezione Fabio e Leo Cei'). This dual structure combines market activities with research and dissemination of a little-known sector rich in material and immaterial heritage.
