Riverdale star KJ Apa accuses TikTok singer Mr Fantasy of identity theft

KJ Apa, the New Zealand-born actor known for playing Archie Andrews in Netflix's Riverdale, has publicly accused TikTok singer Mr Fantasy of stealing his identity. The accusation follows the release of Mr Fantasy's music video for 'Do Me Right,' which features cameos from Apa's former Riverdale co-stars Camila Mendes, Lili Reinhart, and Madelaine Petsch, as well as Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sombr, and Alex Warren. Fans have long speculated that Mr Fantasy is actually Apa in disguise due to identical tattoos and similar builds, but both have denied the connection. In an Instagram video, Apa stated that Mr Fantasy has 'completely and utterly stolen my image' and called him a 'liar' and a 'thief.' Friends like Madelyn Cline commented 'Identity theft is not a joke,' while Schwarzenegger and Zoey Deutch apologized. Marketing expert Allanah Micallef compared the situation to the EsDeeKid-Timothée Chalamet conspiracy, calling it 'genius marketing.' Apa previously told Entertainment Tonight, 'I'm a serious guy, I don't know what that guy is,' and Mr Fantasy has dodged questions about his identity. Lili Reinhart said she could not 'confirm or deny the real identity of Mr Fantasy.' The BBC has contacted Mr Fantasy for comment.
