Rivane Neuenschwander's Art Explores Materiality, Chance, and Social Interactions

Rivane Neuenschwander's diverse artistic practice investigates interactions between material forms and sociable cultures, emphasizing chance and natural processes. Her work includes installations like Rain Rains (2002), featuring drips from suspended buckets, and Continent/Cloud (2007), with fan-blown elements. Neuenschwander draws comparisons to Brazilian avant-garde artists Hélio Oiticica and Lygia Clark, while also citing influences from constructivist sculptor Amilcar de Castro and outsider artist Arthur Bispo do Rosário.
