Rituals/Materials: Architecture and Interfaith Dialogue in Turin

The exhibition 'Rituals/Materials' at Castello del Valentino in Turin explores architecture's role in fostering interfaith dialogue, focusing on the House of One in Berlin. Designed by Kuehn Malvezzi (Simona Malvezzi, Wilfried and Johannes Kuehn) and currently under construction on Fischerinsel, the House of One is a multi-faith building combining church, synagogue, and mosque elements. Curated by Eleonora D’Alessandro with Giulia Massenz and Daniele Campobenedetto, the show is supported by Fondazione CRT, the Department of Architecture and Design of Politecnico di Torino, and the Interdepartmental Department of Sciences, Project and Territorial Policies of Politecnico di Torino and University of Turin. It features images and videos by Kuehn Malvezzi, photographer Armin Link, Claudia Professione, and Greta Valentinotti. Previously presented at Mattatoio di Rome (June 2023, Department of Architecture Roma Tre), the Turin edition runs until May 3, 2024, in the Stanza Verde (currently under restoration). The exhibition uses technology, including multilingual projections on a wall over 4 meters, to amplify inclusion and dialogue. It addresses how diverse urban communities can coexist peacefully, highlighting architecture as both a gathering place and an expression of identity.
