Ritualità e sinestesia: eventi e mostra su suono e arte da Contemporary Cluster
Contemporary Cluster at Palazzo Cavallerini in Rome launches a monthly event series titled 'Ritualità e sinestesia' from November to May, including talks, performances, audiovisual sets, and sleep concerts. The series kicks off on November 28 with the presentation of 'Sonic Arts. Tra esperienza percettiva e ascolto attivo', a volume by curator Caterina Tomeo published by Castelvecchi, exploring sound in art, music-image relationships, and new forms of contemporary ritual. The program is inspired by Michel Maffesoli's concept of postmodern 'synergy between technological development and the return of archaic forms', emphasizing neo-tribal micro-aggregations. From January 10 to February 20, the exhibition 'Active Listening' will feature works by Italian artists Francesco Cavaliere, Simone Pappalardo, Roberto Pugliese, and Nicola Ratti, engaging with the historical space through multimedia and multisensory installations. The exhibition references the building's history: Palazzo Cavallerini, built in 1676 by Cardinal Giangiacomo Cavallerini, later became Italy's first school for the deaf-mute in 1784 under Pasquale di Pietro. The project aims to 'reeducate listening' in a visually dominated world. Daniela Gentile, a student from RUFA's Multimedia Arts and Design program directed by Tomeo, will also participate, having won a residency at the Spatial Sound Institute in Budapest.
