Ripple Opens MEA Headquarters in Dubai International Financial Centre

In late April 2026, Ripple inaugurated its regional headquarters for the Middle East and Africa at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), enhancing its presence in the UAE after obtaining a license from the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) in March 2025 as a blockchain payment provider. This new office will enable a doubling of the workforce in the region, bolstering support for partners and customers, including financial institutions like Zand Bank, Garanti BBVA, and Absa Bank. Currently, the Middle East represents roughly 20% of Ripple's global clientele. Ripple’s stablecoin, RLUSD, valued at around $130 million, has been acknowledged as a legitimate token within the DIFC. The company has over 60 licenses worldwide, including in Singapore, Ireland, and several U.S. states. By early 2026, the UAE's regulatory environment, supported by authorities like VARA in Dubai and ADGM in Abu Dhabi, has attracted over 500 licensed blockchain and crypto firms, issuing approximately 507 VASP licenses. Other significant crypto companies, such as Binance and OKX, have also expanded operations in the UAE. A Ripple survey conducted in 2024 indicated that 64% of financial leaders in the region consider rapid payment and settlement as blockchain's most significant advantage.
