Ripon Chowdhury's poem published for Breaking the Waves exhibition at chi K11 art museum
Hey! So there’s this cool exhibition called Breaking the Waves, organized by ArtReview for the K11 Art Foundation. It kicked off on July 17, 2021, at the chi K11 art museum in Shanghai and will run until October 17, 2021. To celebrate, they released a poem by Ripon Chowdhury, who hails from Chittagong, Bangladesh, but has been living in Singapore since 2010, working as a quality controller in a shipyard. He’s also an activist and blogger focused on social and political issues. He was the runner-up in the 2018 Migrant Worker Poetry Competition and took part in the 2019 Singapore Writers Festival. His poem, 'The Unnatural Death of the Poem,' originally in Bengali, reflects on the struggles of writing poetry amid life's challenges. The exhibition features various artists, with support from the K11 Art Foundation to boost contemporary art in Shanghai.
