Rio Museums Launch Matchfunding Campaigns with BNDES Support

The Museu Bispo do Rosário Arte Contemporânea (mBrac) and the Museu de Imagens do Inconsciente (MII), located in Engenho de Dentro and Jacarepaguá, Rio de Janeiro, respectively, initiated fundraising campaigns in October. These institutions are utilizing a matchfunding model through the Programa Matchfunding BNDES+, hosted on the Benfeitoria platform. For every real donated, the BNDES triples the contribution by adding two more reais. Both campaigns operate on an 'all-or-nothing' principle, requiring full funding goals to be met for the institutions to receive the money; otherwise, donations are returned. The mBrac launched its campaign on October 25, with 37 days to raise 150,000 reais by December 4, aiming to fund the restoration of the Grande Veleiro and conservation of works by Arthur Bispo do Rosario. The MII began its campaign on October 7 and has already secured 79% of its 244,500 reais target, intended for expanding its operations and protecting its collection. The BNDES+ program supports cultural projects by combining crowdfunding with direct BNDES investment.
