Rineke Dijkstra Receives 2017 Hasselblad Foundation International Award in Photography
Rineke Dijkstra has been named the 2017 Hasselblad Foundation International Award in Photography recipient. The Dutch artist will be honored with a SEK 1,000,000 cash prize, equivalent to approximately £90,000. An exhibition of her work will open at the Hasselblad Center in Gothenburg on 10 October 2017, accompanied by a dedicated publication. The award selection was made by the Hasselblad Foundation's board of directors, which includes Duncan Forbes, Jennifer Blessing, Simon Njami, Esther Ruelfs, and Mark Sealy. Forbes is a curator and writer based in London and Los Angeles. Blessing serves as senior curator of photography at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York. Njami is a curator and writer from Paris. Ruelfs heads the photography and new media department at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg. Sealy is the curator and director of Autograph ABP in London.
