Rindon Johnson's Multidisciplinary Practice Centers Language Across Sculpture, VR, and Books
Rindon Johnson's artistic endeavors center around language, which he considers "the most liberatory thing we've got." His diverse work spans virtual reality, sculpture, and artist's books, delving into subjects such as Black trans identity and climate change. Currently, his two-part exhibition "Law of Large Numbers" is on display at SculptureCenter in New York until August 2, with the second segment set to launch at Chisenhale Gallery in London this November. Additionally, "The Valley of the Moon" is showcased at François Ghebaly gallery in Los Angeles until June 19. Johnson's 2021 publication, "The Law of Large Numbers: Black Sonic Abyss," acts as the catalog. His 2019 VR film, "Meat Growers: A Love Story," imagines a post-Green New Deal Napa Valley. A collaborative exhibition titled "This End the Sun" is scheduled for the New Museum in New York from June 30 to October 3.
