Rinascente Opens Second Rome Flagship with Archaeological Site

architecture-design · 2026-05-05

Rinascente inaugurated its second flagship location in Rome on October 12 at Via del Tritone 61, after an extensive 11-year renovation. This impressive eight-story structure boasts contributions from various design firms: the facade and first two levels were crafted by Vincent van Duysen, while Universal Design Studio designed the second floor. The third floor was developed by Paolo Lucchetta, and India Mahdavi designed the fourth. The fifth floor is by CLS Architetti, and the top two floors were completed by Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands. The sixth floor hosts the MadeITerraneo restaurant, helmed by chef Riccardo Di Giacinto, and the basement features the Aqua Virgo aqueduct, which dates back to 19 BC. Established 150 years ago, Rinascente has a legacy of championing design and art, including the Compasso d'Oro award and exhibitions with artists like Basquiat and Olafur Eliasson.
