Rimini Biennale del Disegno Opens Second Edition with Collezione Ramo Debut

festival-fair · 2026-05-05

The weekend saw the launch of the second Biennale Disegno Rimini, showcasing 23 exhibitions at various locations, including Castel Sismondo, the Museo Archeologico, and the Biblioteca Malatestiana in Cesena. Curated by Irina Zucca Alessandrelli, one highlight is 'I Marziani,' which explores 80 years of Italian art through pieces by 16 artists from the Collezione Ramo, owned by Giuseppe Rabolini. This collection features around 600 works on paper from the early 20th century to the late 1980s and is publicly displayed for the first time, having previously been partially shown at miart 2015. The biennial seeks to promote drawing as a vital artistic form, addressing its historical neglect in favor of painting and sculpture. Notable artists in 'I Marziani' include Medardo Rosso, Adolfo Wildt, and Gino De Dominicis. The collection has lent works to institutions like the Musée d'Orsay and plans future exhibitions in Italy and abroad.
