exhibition · 2026-05-05

A 24-hour exhibition showcasing Dutch Golden Age masterpieces has been launched by the Rijksmuseum at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, located between lounges 2 and 3. The display includes ten artworks from artists such as Jan van Goyen, Willem van Velde the Younger, Abraham Mignon, and Michiel van Mierevelt, all within a 167-square-meter area crafted by NEXT Architects. Since opening a branch at Schiphol in 2002, the museum has also presented images of 45 paintings on baggage carousel 16, alongside a shop offering Rijksmuseum merchandise. Meanwhile, Lugano Airport in Switzerland has teamed up with gallery [dip] to feature contemporary art, starting September 10 with photographs by Melik Ohanian. This airport museum trend is gaining traction worldwide, including in Australia and Italy.
