Ride or Die Heist: Czech Grotto Transformed into Monaco Gallery

Prime Video's series Ride or Die, starring Hannah Waddingham and Octavia Spencer, stages a Monaco heist in an 18th-century grotto at Ploskovice Chateau, near Prague. Production designer Marc Homes and set decorator Beatrice Brentnerová curated a fictional underground gallery filled with replicas of famous stolen artworks, including Vermeer's The Concert and Rembrandt's Christ in the Storm on the Sea of Galilee, both lost in the 1990 Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum heist. The team created oil-painted reproductions, aged Lewis chessmen replicas, and commissioned a ceramist for Song dynasty pottery. The episode also features a lavish bath suite built on a soundstage, inspired by Parisian apartments and Louis XIV classical architecture, and the office of The Director (Bill Nighy), modeled after Petschek Palace, a neo-Classicist building used by the Gestapo in 1939. Homes aimed for a 'James Bondish' feel, pushing reality 5-10 percent for cinematic effect. The production involved meticulous prop details, including diaries with handwritten entries, to inspire actors like Nighy.
