Richard Vine's 'New China New Art' survey revised for 2011 event with Zhang Hongtu at New York Public Library

Richard Vine, who serves as the Asian art editor for Art in America, has just published an updated version of 'New China New Art' with Prestel, expanding it from 240 pages to 256. The book was launched on February 1, 2012, at the New York Public Library, where Vine was joined by artist Zhang Hongtu. Drawing on a decade of experience in Chinese contemporary art, this book is aimed at those new to the scene, organizing significant artists from the past thirty years into categories like Painting and Performance. It features well-known figures such as Xu Bing and Cai Guo Qiang, along with emerging talents like O Zhang and Chi Peng, while Vine remains neutral in addressing the challenges of China's art scene.
