Richard Hamilton's 'Swingeing London 67 (f)' Book Launch at ICA London

publication · 2026-04-22

On Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at 6:30 PM, the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) in London will host the launch of 'Richard Hamilton: Swingeing London 67 (f)', part of Afterall and The MIT Press's One Work series. Andrew Wilson, who has been the curator for Modern and Contemporary British Art at Tate Britain since 2006, will have a conversation with cultural commentator Michael Bracewell. The book delves into Hamilton's famous 1967 piece depicting Mick Jagger and art dealer Robert Fraser handcuffed in a police van after their drug arrest. The title alludes to both 'swinging' London and its severe legal consequences. Entry is free, but you’ll need to reserve a spot either by phone or online. This event is a collaboration among Afterall, Central Saint Martins Fine Art Research, and the ICA.
