Richard Fauguet and Florence Chevallier Dual Exhibition in Southern France

exhibition · 2026-04-23

Two concurrent exhibitions organized by L'Atelier Blanc, a private contemporary art space run by a couple of passionate amateurs, are held from July to September 2012 across two sites six kilometers apart: L'Atelier Blanc in Villefranche-de-Rouergue and Moulin des arts in Saint-Rémy. At L'Atelier Blanc, Richard Fauguet presents 'Tout juste à côté de chez Monique…', featuring his signature collage and assemblage works. The centerpiece, 'Sans titre' (1995), comprises glass objects collected from flea markets, glued with silicone, and arranged on a long table to evoke optical instruments. Five paintings from the 'Chevaliers Smiley' series (2003), created with painter Daniel Schlier, appropriate popular smiley emoticons. The video 'L'Économiseur' (2002) uses architect's 'méca-norma' boards and insect drawings set to music by Ravel and Brian Eno. At Moulin des arts, Florence Chevallier exhibits photographs from her 2009 residency series 'Rivière', depicting houses along the Aveyron River and local residents, reminiscent of her 'Enchantements' series (1996-1999). She also shows 'Toucher Terre' (2010), photographs from a residency in Saint-Omer focusing on fields and clothed people. The exhibition includes a video 'Native nue' (2012), titled after a Mallarmé poem, showing the artist swimming nude in a well.
