Richard Calvocoressi Appointed to Gagosian London as New Mayfair Gallery Opens

On 21 September 2015, Gagosian London announced the significant appointment of Richard Calvocoressi, coinciding with the upcoming launch of a new gallery in Mayfair this October. Calvocoressi, who has a wealth of museum experience, directed the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art in Edinburgh from 1987 until 2007. Before that, he was a curator at the Tate Gallery from 1979 to 1987. His academic background includes studies at Oxford University and the Courtauld Institute. Most recently, he served at the Henry Moore Foundation, retiring in July 2015. This transition marks his return to the commercial gallery sector as Gagosian expands in London.
