Riccardo Muti Opera Academy at Fondazione Prada Milan

festival-fair · 2026-04-27

Fondazione Prada in Milan will host the seventh edition of the Riccardo Muti Italian Opera Academy from December 4 to 15, 2021, marking the foundation's first foray into classical music. The academy, founded in 2015 and based in Ravenna, brings together young conductors, accompanists, and opera singers aged 18 to 35, selected by Muti, to study and perform Giuseppe Verdi's Nabucco. The program includes piano rehearsals, reading sessions, ensemble rehearsals, and two final concerts on December 14 and 15. The event will be recorded by Riccardo Muti Music (RMMUSIC) for an audiovisual product. Tickets go on sale in September. This collaboration expands Fondazione Prada's interdisciplinary cultural offerings, which previously included art, cinema, architecture, urban planning, sound, and neuroscience, as well as electronic music projects in 2018 and 2019. Muti, born in Naples in 1941, served as music director of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino (1968–1980) and Teatro alla Scala (1986–2005). The academy is open to the public as auditors.
