Riccardo Giacconi Wins ArteVisione Prize with Video on Alberto Camerini

award · 2026-05-05

Riccardo Giacconi (b. 1985, San Severino Marche) has won the third edition of ArteVisione, a prize created by Sky Italia and Careof to support young Italian art, with his video work Lo Scherzo. The piece explores the figure of Alberto Camerini, an eclectic Italian rock and pop musician, through his memories and reflections on mechanical music, the Arlecchino mask, and the early digital age. The video interweaves archival footage of Camerini's steampunk Arlecchino performances with puppets from the atelier Colla. Produced by Sky Italia and Careof, the work is donated by the artist to the Museo del Novecento in Milan, where it is on display in loop until October 16 in the Sala Fontana. A talk with the artist and Camerini is scheduled for October 15 at 6:30 PM, followed by a live show. The video will premiere on Sky Arte HD on October 17 at 8:00 PM. The ArteVisione prize began in 2014 with a pilot featuring four artists (Yuri Ancarani, ZimmerFrei, Giuseppe Fanizza, Francesco Bertocco). Since 2015, an open call has been issued with broader themes; last year's winner was Luca Trevisani (theme: light), this year's theme was technology. The 2017 edition is already announced: deadline November 20, open to under-30s, with a tour of Italian art academies (Turin, Venice, Milan, Verona, Florence, Rome). Ten finalists will attend the ArteVisione LAB workshop in Milan in January, with visiting professor Omer Fast.
