Riccardo Baruzzi's Brushless Painting at P420 Bologna
After winning the Premio Termoli for contemporary art in March, Romagna-born artist Riccardo Baruzzi (Lugo, 1976) presents the solo show 'Dal disegno disposto alla pittura' at P420 gallery in Bologna. The exhibition occupies two large rooms at Via Azzo Gardino, featuring works that share a common thread: Baruzzi abandons the painter's quintessential tool—the brush. Instead, he experiments with a wide range of instruments such as wax crayons, graphite, markers, and stamps, whose use appears to be his sole interest. The artist forgoes any representational intent, reducing his canvases to mere supports for deliberately elementary, harmonious, and gestural marks. A sound performance is scheduled for April 23 as part of the Live Arts Week festival. The exhibition runs until June 4, 2016.
