Riad Miah's immersive installation at Wave Hill explores sky's blue spectrum through suspended paintings
From July 21 to September 2, 2019, Riad Miah showcased "Waves of Light—Entwined Through the Tendrils of Time," a unique installation at Wave Hill's Sunroom Project Space. Curated by Eileen Jeng Lynch, the exhibition featured large, semi-translucent blue shapes crafted from Dura-Lar panels, hanging from the ceiling to interact with varying light conditions. Miah chose the blue shades inspired by the sky's color at specific times throughout the month. Additionally, four plastic structures resembling seaweed contrasted artificial and natural forms. This installation marked a shift from Miah's typical approach, encouraging viewers to notice shifts in color and brushwork, influenced by his ten years of visits to Wave Hill, emphasizing the sky over botanical elements.
