Rhizome Reveals 7×7 2026 Line-Up at New Museum

digital · 2026-05-08

Rhizome has announced the participants for the 2026 edition of Seven on Seven (7×7), taking place at the New Museum on May 16. The program pairs seven artists with seven technologists to create new projects over a single day, presented live. This year's theme is "Containment," exploring interdependence in biological, computational, financial, and social systems, and referencing AI alignment debates and Zoe Sofia's essay "Container Technologies." Curated by Rhizome with Neema Githere and the collective Bi?nJiè, pairings include Lucas Gelfond with Karyn Nakamura; Agnieszka Kurant with biologist Michael Levin, researcher Emily Ertle, and technologist Jenn Leung; Andrew Thomas Huang with Stephanie Zhang; composer Debit with Saarim Zaman; Neema Githere with Mercy Mutemi; and Josiah Hester with Caleb Rimtobaye. The event also features outcomes from Rhizome's Counterstructural Commons Residency with the Mozilla Foundation. This is the first 7×7 after the New Museum's expansion by OMA's Rem Koolhaas and Shohei Shigematsu.
