Rhinoceros Gallery Hosts Galerie Nathalie Obadia in Rome

exhibition · 2026-04-26

This autumn, rhinoceros gallery in Rome's Velabro district hosts a collaboration with Galerie Nathalie Obadia, marking the French gallery's first exhibition in Italy. Founded in 1993 with locations in Paris and Brussels, Galerie Nathalie Obadia is known for its diverse program spanning visual arts and multimedia installations. The group show features seven artists: Seydou Keïta, a Malian photographer documenting post-colonial African society; Laure Prouvost, with large tapestries creating visual archives; Romana Londi, presenting 2024 paintings exploring immediacy; Antoine Renard, with 3D-printed sculptures addressing body and youth; Andres Serrano, whose photographs reference classical aesthetics including Michelangelo's Moses; Joris Van De Moortel, with large canvases referencing literary works from William Blake to a 14th-century military treatise; and Agnès Varda, with eleven images from her Patates Coeurs series. The exhibition space was designed by Jean Nouvel. This is the third collaboration curated by Alessia Caruso Fendi, who took over rhinoceros gallery in March 2024, following partnerships with François Ghebaly and Galerie Kreo. The gallery alternates between art and design exhibitions every six months, with a design-focused show planned for spring 2025. Caruso Fendi emphasizes bringing international galleries without prior Italian experience to Rome, aiming to create cultural exchange.
