RFI's Summer Gaming Feature: Inside the Multiverse of 'Fading Echo'

RFI's summer gaming segment highlights the French video game 'Fading Echo', released this summer and developed by studio Emeteria and published by New Tales. The game is a third-person action-adventure that blends combat, puzzles, and platforming. Players control One, a young 'legend' with the ability to transform into a water droplet, alternating between human and liquid forms for movement and combat, all set against a colorful art direction. The narrative is set in a multiverse of interconnected worlds, once accessible to 'legends' who could travel between them, but the passages closed long ago. At the game's start, a major event reopens them, awakening One's dormant powers. Creative director Amaury Beyris explains that One's story involves self-discovery, uncovering hidden truths about her world, exploring unknown universes, and mastering 'ether' and associated magic to save her own world. The game features a star-studded voice cast: Samantha Béart (Baldur's Gate 3) voices One, Laura Bailey (The Last of Us Part II, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy) is also involved, and Matthew Mercer (known for Leon in Resident Evil and Cassidy in Overwatch) voices an antagonist. 'Fading Echo' is available on Steam, PS5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch.
