Revine Lago Named First European Capital of Independent Cinema 2024

The 19th edition of Lago Film Fest concluded with the announcement that Revine Lago has been designated the first European Capital of Independent Cinema for 2024. The festival, held annually on the shores of the Revine lakes, featured retrospectives, premieres, and masterclasses with international guests including Golden Lion winner Lav Diaz. The new title brings a year-long program of over 100 activities developed with the local administration and Pro Loco, culminating in the festival's 20th anniversary next year. Initiatives include artistic residencies, film screenings, meetings, and performances aimed at fostering cross-pollination among professionals, amateurs, and artists. Regional president Luca Zaia praised the festival as a cultural appointment promoting a territory rich in history and scenic beauty, and as a platform for intergenerational dialogue on contemporary issues. Viviana Carlet and Carlo Migotto, founders of Piattaforma Lago, the collective behind the festival, stated that the project is an opportunity for citizens to benefit from extraordinary cultural offerings and significant tourism and economic potential. They described it as the natural continuation of a dream started twenty years ago, bringing professionals and enthusiasts to Revine Lago, a place suspended in time that nurtures creativity and has become a shared reality.
