Reverie's 'librosogni': A Dream Diary as Artistic Manifesto
Italian artist Reverie (b. 1994, Vinci) published 'librosogni' with Skira in 2020, a 208-page book compiling ninety-nine dreams annotated through cacography and black-and-white photography. The work serves as a maieutic tool urging readers to share their true selves without masks. Reverie describes her practice as rooted in writing, performance, and the concept of 'purezza' (purity). She has collaborated with Hermann Nitsch (152nd Action at Fondazione Morra, Naples) and participated in VB74 at MAXXI Rome. Her upcoming performance 'Sogno 2: The Sleeping Muse' is scheduled for September 12, 2020, at Palazzina Liberty in Milan, where she will sing audience-submitted dreams a cappella. The bronze sculpture 'The Sleeping Muse,' a life cast of her face with rose grafts, precedes the performance. Reverie's work spans ceramics, silk, mirrors, glass, and installations, often synthesizing audience feedback into new pieces. She credits her father and Gaston Bachelard's 'Poetics of Reverie' for her name and artistic direction. The interview was conducted by Giuseppe Amedeo Arnesano.
