institutional · 2026-04-30

Three major appointments have reshaped leadership across Asia's art scene. In February, curator Reuben Keehan was named artistic director of Kontempo – Center for Contemporary Art in Manila, a new institution developed by the Ayala Foundation. He leaves his 15-year post as curator of contemporary art at Brisbane's Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art. In India, Manuel Rabaté became CEO and director of the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art in New Delhi, bringing over 25 years of experience, including his role as inaugural director of Louvre Abu Dhabi since 2016. In March, the Kochi Biennale Foundation appointed board member Jitish Kallat as president of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, succeeding Bose Krishnamachari, who resigned in January. Kallat, a Mumbai-based artist, previously curated the biennale's second edition in 2014–15.
