Restored Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii film returns to cinemas in April 2025

other · 2026-04-26

The legendary 1972 documentary 'Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii', directed by Adrian Maben, returns to cinemas in a restored and expanded version from April 24 to 30, 2025. The film captures the band's 1971 concert at the ancient Roman amphitheater in Pompeii, featuring iconic tracks like Echoes, A Saucerful of Secrets, and One of These Days, along with rare behind-the-scenes footage. In Italy, distribution is exclusively handled by Nexo Studios, while Trafalgar Releasing and Sony Music Vision will distribute the film in selected theaters and IMAX internationally. The restored footage includes images of the amphitheater by day and night, and the performance of Echoes is now available as a preview video, showing the band members—David Gilmour, Roger Waters, Richard Wright, and Nick Mason—wandering among the Pompeii excavations and the Solfatara di Pozzuoli, an active volcanic crater in the Campi Flegrei. Drummer Nick Mason described the film as a rare and unique document of the band performing live before the release of 'The Dark Side of the Moon'.
