Resisting the Trouble: 12 video works on global crisis at Manifattura Tabacchi

The exhibition 'Resisting the Trouble – Moving Images in Times of Crisis' opens at Manifattura Tabacchi in Florence, running until June 4, 2021. Curated by Leonardo Bigazzi, it features 12 works by artists from the ninth edition of VISIO-European Programme on Artists' Moving Images, a research and residency program for artists under 35. The show is produced by Lo schermo dell'arte in collaboration with NAM – Not A Museum, Manifattura Tabacchi's contemporary art program, marking the start of a partnership that will continue with the 14th edition of the Festival from November 10 to 14, 2021. The video works, films, and installations address urgent issues arising from the current global crisis, offering alternative visions to rethink the present and imagine the future. Bigazzi noted that during lockdown, moving images proved uniquely capable of transcending exhibition space limits through technology, questioning whether art can resist alienation and isolation.
