Edgar Santo Moretti has identified the site of Anita Malfatti's important exhibition, Exposição de Pintura Moderna, which commenced on 12 December 1917 at Salão da Líbero Badaró 111 in São Paulo. This exhibition played a pivotal role in modernist discussions, ultimately leading to the Semana de Arte Moderna in 1922. The building was authorized for construction on 20 May 1916, with engineer Gustavo Lara Campos overseeing the project and contractor Antonio de Toledo Lara (1864–1935) executing it. Prior to this development, the location was occupied by a ceramics shop and a factory for funeral wreaths. The discovery was announced in the 27 January issue of O Estado de São Paulo, and the salon had previously showcased artists like Alfredo Norfini and S.M. Franciscovich.
