The report titled Minicifre della Cultura for 2023, unveiled on December 6, examines Italy's cultural expenditures from 2018 to 2022. Monthly cultural spending by Italian households decreased from €71 to €54 between 2018 and 2021, with recreational and cultural services experiencing a 40% decline. In 2021, public investment in culture amounted to approximately €8 billion, with 63% allocated to cultural services. From 2019 to 2022, the Ministry of Culture's budget rose by 52%, totaling €4.3 billion. The PNRR designated €6.68 billion for tourism and culture. In 2021, banking foundations donated €245.5 million to the arts, while Art Bonus contributions surpassed €436 million from 2019 to 2022. Notably, Tuscany boasts over 500 museums, and Lombardy has more than 1,400 libraries.
