Renzo Piano's Vulcano Buono in Nola Transforms into Art Center Eutòpia
The iconic Vulcano Buono shopping center in Nola, designed by Renzo Piano and inaugurated in 2007, now hosts Eutòpia, a semi-permanent art space made from 48 decommissioned shipping containers covering 1,700 sqm. The project, conceived by creative industry Foll.ia and led by set designer Carlotta Orioli, aims to transform the commercial arena into a cultural hub. Eutòpia launches with the immersive show 'Wonder,' written and directed by Marco Cisaria and Michela Belli, featuring contributions from 20 international artists including Andrew Quinn (visual effects for 'The Matrix') and Pietro Walker (Burning Man, Glastonbury). The musical score is by Maestro Raffaele Cardone (worked on Paolo Sorrentino's 'Ariaferma,' 11 Venice Film Festival nominations), performed by the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra conducted by Luigi Gaggero and soloists from the National Presidential Orchestra, with sounds mixed and sampled from war noises. The show runs multiple times daily from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM, free to the public. Additionally, the Urban Art section opens with works by Ukrainian street artist Alex Maksiov and French duo Tito/Mulk, curated by Foll.ia. Foll.ia's founders describe Eutòpia as a unique project that strips the commercial soul of Vulcano Buono to create a social and cultural attraction, funded by the foresight of local businesses.
