Renzo Martens Hosts ArtReview Live Event with Chocolate Sculpture Fundraiser

artist · 2026-04-20

This Thursday at 7pm, the last ArtReview Live event of 2014 will take place at the ArtReview bar in London, featuring Dutch artist Renzo Martens. The night will have drinks, discussions, and film screenings, highlighting Martens’ latest work, including the Institute for Human Activities in Congo. Guests will have the chance to buy twenty chocolate sculptures, each priced at £39.95, with all funds going to support Congolese plantation workers. These unique self-portraits were made using scanning, digital export, 3D-printing, and cocoa casting techniques by the workers. Martens was a finalist for the sixth Artes Mundi prize. The bar will be run by guest brewers Company: Movements, Deals and Drinks, a project linked to East London’s hop-picking history.
