René Block on Historicizing Fluxus

René Block opened his first gallery in Berlin in 1964. In 1974, he opened a second gallery in New York, which he ran alongside the Berlin gallery until 1977. In 1982, he became director of the Daadgalerie in Berlin, making the city the most important permanent platform for Fluxus after New York. He has also worked as an independent curator since 1971. The Statens Museum for Kunst in Copenhagen organized the first public exhibition of his private collection in May 1992. The collection comprises over five hundred works.
