René Block Appointed Chief Curator for RIBOCA3 in Riga

René Block will serve as chief curator for the third Riga Biennial, RIBOCA3, scheduled from 15 July to 2 October 2022 in Riga, Latvia. His extensive background includes directing the Kunsthalle Fridericianum in Kassel and curating biennials in Sydney (1990), Istanbul (1995), Gwangju (2000), and Belgrade October Salon (2006). Block also founded Kunsthalle 44 Møen in Denmark. In a statement, he expressed enthusiasm for the role, noting the Andrejsala exhibition venue's potential to transform the biennial into an artistic workshop. He emphasized that RIBOCA3 will feature Latvian artists alongside international guests, aiming to create a multisensory experience.
