Render newsletter #50 focuses on Milan Olympics urban impact
The 50th issue of Render, Artribune's newsletter on urban and cultural regeneration, will be sent to subscribers on Monday, February 2. The lead analysis examines the Winter Olympics' immediate and lasting impact on Milan's urban fabric, questioning whether it is a missed opportunity or the start of a new phase for the city after turbulent years. The issue also covers hydrogeological instability, starting with events in Sicily. An interview with architect Giacomo De Amicis explores the relationship between Milan and its municipal sports spaces, based on his publication "Deascourse – Issue 01: Metamorfosi urbana dei centri sportivi." De Amicis argues that sports centers can become civic hubs that aggregate local communities, coining the phrase "oratorio laico" (secular oratory). The newsletter includes the regular "Osservatorio Rigenerazione" section with notable regeneration projects and international architecture news, plus events, training opportunities, and recommended readings. Render is curated by Carolina Chiatto and Valentina Silvestrini, sent every other Monday for free upon subscription. The digital archive of all issues since January 2024 is freely accessible.
